ONE – soundscapes by Sid Hille (2011)

This recording has been created for Vinyl-release.
Sid Hille plays all instruments during this amazing space trip, creating two soundstreams of 18 minutes for each side of the record.
Some of the instruments featured are piano, Fender Rhodes electric piano, theremin, the Finnish traditional instrument kantele, various percussion and flutes, iPod, ukulele and melodica.
While the two days of recording had been prepared in practise sessions over the run of several months, the actual performance in the studio was improvised.
In a fascinating process that can be watched as a documentary film (‘A room for ONE’ by Pia Antikainen, 2012), Hille developed the conceptual idea of ONE playfully experimenting with various instruments without committing to any final form of composition.
ONE – soundscapes by Sid Hille sounds as fresh and alive as it was conceived.
when recording engineer and co-producer Tipi Tuovinen pushed the record button.
